Scan Live Hosts on Network
Hey there!
I'm gonna show you how to find live hosts on the network that you are connected to. there are several ways to do that. as we are humans, when we wanna do whatever we want, we do that using the easiest way. so there is nothing to compare with the easiest way.
Let's do it...
- Netdiscover
One of the best and easy way to find hosts is Netdiscover. It is a simple tool that uses ARP protocol to find live hosts.Netdiscover not only finds the live hosts also returns mac addresses and hostname.
Netdiscover is an active/passive arp reconnaissance tool, initially developed to gain information about wireless networks without DHCP servers in wardriving scenarios. It can also be used on switched networks. Built on top of libnet and libpcap, it can passively detect online hosts or search for them by sending ARP requests.
As soon as you start Netdiscover it starts sending arp requests over network and prints out the result if it finds any live host.
If you want to scan a specific range, just use the option -r and start the scan.
You can do a quick scan using the option -f. if you are gonna do an auto scan, remember to use the option -f with it.
- Angry IP scanner
Download: http://angryip.org/download/#linux
In this tool, you have three options.
IP range: if you wish to give a specific IP range, select this (this option is the only option that is used most of the time).
Random: it chooses an IP range randomly.
Text file: you have to select a text file that contains IP information.
select the option and press start. it will show you a massive result.
Okay, the guide is over.hope you got the knowledge about it.Thank you!
happy hunting....
